Piano Tuning
A true sound. Controlled tension. A piano built to last.
Is your piano no longer quite in tune?
It’s not just a matter of ear — it’s a matter of the instrument’s health.
For over 25 years, we’ve been tuning pianos with a simple approach:
precision, stability, and respect for the instrument.
Courteous, guaranteed service — no surprises.
Because trust, too, needs to be in tune.
Why Piano Tuning Is Essential (Not Optional)
A piano contains approximately 220 strings, under a combined tension of 18 to 20 tons.
Over time — and especially without regular maintenance — that tension relaxes.
The result?
• The piano drops in pitch (sometimes up to ½ step below A-440)
• Tuning becomes unstable
• A simple tuning is no longer sufficient
In these cases, a pitch correction is required before a stable tuning can be achieved.
The good news?
In the vast majority of situations, everything can be done in a single visit.
How Often Should a Piano Be Tuned?
- Ideally: twice a year
-
Absolute minimum: once a year
Why?
Because the climate works against you:
-
Summer: excess humidity → the pitch rises
-
Winter: dry air → the pitch drops
Over time, a piano that is constantly out of tune puts excessive stress on the tuning pins and the soundboard.
At that point, we’re no longer talking about maintenance — but costly repairs.
Prevent or repair?
That question is quickly… tuned.
Proper Piano Placement (and How to Avoid Problems)
A few simple rules:
-
No direct sunlight
-
Keep away from radiators and drafts
-
Ideal temperature: around 19 °C (66 °F)
-
Recommended humidity: 40–60%
If these conditions are difficult to maintain, the most effective solution is a climate control system installed directly inside the piano.
It’s the best insurance for tuning stability — and for the long-term health of the instrument.
